The Global Ocean Treaty

Every once in a while, the headlines give us something to smile about, and this week’s global water news is one of those moments worth celebrating. The Global Ocean Treaty has officially come into force, protecting vast areas of the high seas that were previously unregulated.

Until now, less than 1% of these international waters have had full protection. This treaty opens the door for the largest network of marine sanctuaries in history, a landmark victory for our planet’s most vital resource.
