Did you know the stormwater industry might just hold the record for acronyms? Let’s dissect one of the most common: MCM — Minimum Control Measure.
From the start, the title itself sets the wrong tone. Minimum? When it comes to protecting our waterways, we shouldn’t be aiming for the minimum.
What if we shifted the mindset? Instead of “Minimum Control Measures,” we focused on "Meaningful Control Measures", putting purpose behind the process and value behind compliance.
At Erosion & Construction Solutions Inc (ECS), and Siltworm, Inc. we believe in maximizing control measures while being efficient with processes and costs. Our goal is to help our partners achieve better outcomes. Not just to meet the requirements, but to exceed them through smarter, more sustainable stormwater practices. Utilizing and promoting sustainable technologies in design and practice gives us the ability to be intentionally meaningful.
Remember, stormwater isn’t about checking boxes; it’s about improving water quality and protecting our shared, but limited, water resource as well as our environment.
Let’s redefine "MCM" and move on from minimum to MEANINGFUL!
